Welcome home PVT Bonnie A Johnson

American Legion Riders Post 111 - Dallas, GA

It is a proud moment to witness and be a part of a celebration of a soldier coming home. Pvt. Bonnie A. Johnson graduated on August 6th and her parents wanted to celebrate. Members of the American Legion Riders Post 111,  members of the Patriot Guard Riders, Paulding County Commissioner David Austin and members from the family and the community joined in welcoming home this soldier home at White Oak Park in Dallas, GA. 

Pvt. Bonnie A. Johnson just finished her basic and advanced instructional training to serve in the capacity of a MP. Bonnie enlisted in the Army National Guard in October 2008. She left for Ft. Leonard Wood, MO. on March 11th, 2009. While there Bonnie excelled in marksmanship, she demonstrated leadership abilities serving as a squad leader and then platoon guide. She also lead her platoon to the pugil stick championship during hand-to-hand combat training. She is among an elite group of soldiers as less than 2% serve as MP's. She is also an active member of the Military Police Regimental Association.

Her future plans include attending air assault training and attending officer candidates school.

She has a long family history with the military. Her father was with the Army Special Forces and did three tours of Nam, one grandfather was in the Navy between Korea and Nam, the other grandfather served in the Navy and was one of the survivors of Pearl Harbor (he had traveled inland to pick up the mail that morning) and was on the USS Baltimore during the signing of the peace treaty between the US and Japan and her great grandfather served in the Air Force during peace times.

Bonnie's father is also a member of the American Legion Post 111, Dallas, GA. and her mother just joined the Patriot Guard Riders. Bonnie said that she wants to get a motorcycle soon.
