American Legion Riders
Supports

On March 27th, 2010 - The American Legion Riders did something that did not involve riding motorcycles. We supported a local event in Dallas called "Race to Heel the Soul". This was a fundraiser benefit for Shepherds Rest Ministries/Paulding Battered Women's Shelter.

Several of our members took off their riding boots and donned a pair of high heels. In true Legion Rider style, a few members (guys) went all the way. Legion favorite, Booger, was sporting the latest fashionable "Pink Tu-Tu". He managed to squeeze his size 15 foot into a size 12 high heel. He wasn't very fast but was a high-light of the day along with the gentleman wearing the purple dress and stylish hat.

Our fastest runner was Super Dave, he had on a skirt, event t-shirt, scarf, pink glasses, blond wig and a blinged out do-rag.

This was the first annual race and you can bet we will be back next year stronger and faster. Total money raised for this benefit was around $4000.00 - Great job to all those that helped and participated. Special thanks to the City of Dallas Police department for closing off the the downtown area for this event...
