My
prayers go out to Mike's family. Mike was a good friend to
many and had one of the most giving souls. I knew Mike for a little over a year and he always said hello and gave a heart-felt embrace. He was one of the biggest supporters I have ever known for charities. Just last week I sat and talked to him about him wanting to do a pizza party for Calvary Children's Home. I told him I would speak to my aunt who runs one of the houses at Calvary and arrange the party. Unfortunately for me the good Lord had bigger plans for Mike. I am sure he will serve him proudly, Mike was a good man. He will be missed. Heart Felt Appreciation, DV-Webmaster, Chad webmaster@doublevisionbarandgrill.net If you have a comment you would like to make on Mikes behalf, please send me a message, don't carry it around with you, share your soul, many people will benefit from your thoughts. ____________________________________________________________________________ I will say me and Mike were not that close, but he was a very caring person of others. You just got that feeling from him that he loved so many. We had our differences at times. I am just thankful that Saturday I was nice to him even though he was upset because I would not help him. Looking back I wish I would have taken a second to talk to him and convince him to stay. It just makes me remember that we can never expect to see someone the next day. Seeing someone again is a gift from God that we should cherish with everything. That sometimes we should slow down and really listen to people and show them how much we care. I will ride on the ride in his honor that is one thing that he loved the most. I can look over my fears because that is what he would ask of someone. To face your fears for a great cause. So I will be honored to be able to attend this ride in support of a great man that died so tragically. Rianna ____________________________________________________________________________ I remember that he wanted me to get a Harley so bad that he tried to blow up my Honda after the Wesley ride. He was keeping it idling because it wasn’t running right. Needless to say he had my exhaust pipes glowing red……..laughing the whole time. He said he was just helping get my Harley sooner. MSgt Jeffrey 'Vern' Vernon _____________________________________________________________________________ Mike was the reason me and so many others joined the Legion and the Legion Riders. I have met many friends that I now call brothers because we are family. Mike was a wild man, sometimes he would make you mad, but the next time you saw him you would just hug him. You can't stay mad at a man with a heart as big as Paulding co. He will be missed by many. I don't think anyone will be able do what he did for our community. Scott Brown _____________________________________________________________________________ Mike "Boots" was one of the best men I have ever met. We met him one night at one of our bon fires. He stopped in to say hello and it was on after that. He would always stop by to let us know what was going on at the Legion or to get us to go riding with him. Even when we couldn't go he would always smile and say there will be another day. I find myself looking for that day now. I always knew when he was close to the house - no matter what time he would always rev up his bike to say hello. My husband and I still listen for him and it really breaks my heart to know that we won't hear him pass by to say hello. He will live forever in my heart, and I know we will have an angel watching over us when we ride. We love you Mike - Christian and NumNum _____________________________________________________________________________ Well Boots for the 2 years I knew ya I have to say that you were an absolute trip, the story about your nickname we gave ya will be told for years to come. Your name will be remembered for years on end and the countless hours of your time you gave to others. You were a cool DUDE and will be missed, thanks for all the good times at the HILL with the HILL GANG. Love ya DUDE NUM NUM Mike Trombley _____________________________________________________________________________ I want to tell all the riders that came to Alabama and the people that have showed how much they care, that all they did for Mike and (my sister) Cindy has been greatly appreciated. Cindy thought what the American Legion did was beautiful and so did I. Cindy is very proud of all of you and all you have done...she really does have a lot of great friends. I have known Mike about 32 years and I know he would be proud of what all his friends have done for him and Cindi. He will be remembered and missed by a lot of people. Thank You All, God Bless Jeff Butts _____________________________________________________________________________ My wife wrote an e-mail to me and told me something bad had happened and when I got to a phone she told me that we lost Mike. We were devastated. Mike helped us put together and execute the first KIA Kids ride and he and Ralph raised funds for the cause. He had tireless energy for the great causes and will be missed by all of us. I'd like to think Mike is looking down at me now with the great big smile he always wore and tasking some cute angels to watch my back. We got him his own Baghdad shirt from our JPRC group and Carole was to get it to him the week he died. The shirt is still yours brother, I'll just hold it in your memory. We feel the loss in the "force". Respectfully, Dick Arsenault "Baghdad" ALR Post 111 forward _____________________________________________________________________________ Mike worked for me an Antoney & Sylvan pools . We didn't realize that until he took me to the Legion hall with him and we sat down and talked . He was there at the bar when I left to go to Iraq and was there when I came back . He was the 1st guy that bought me a beer and a good hand shake and told me (welcome home) . He love to ride and talk bikes! He was trying to talk me into getting one as well. He will be missed by many . He was a good guy I enjoyed talking with him and he was a (FRIEND ) here is to you my friend (GOD BLESS) SGT Robert Rappley USGANG AKA. (CRAZY BOB ) _____________________________________________________________________________ Mike was a great friend and cared about all the Legion Riders and was so much a part of everything we did. If you wanted to ride and wanted someone to go all you had to do was call Mike he would be there. He will be greatly missed by all the riders and will be in our thoughts and hearts always. Mike, Go Ride high in the sky !!!! Shane "REAPER" Sweat and Family _____________________________________________________________________________ What can you say about “MIKE DEAN”…..Well, it’s crazy to me that a guy so full of life isn’t around anymore! The man had one of the biggest most caring hearts I’ve ever known. He really got into the whole charity thing. I guess that’s a page we all need to take outta his book. He was a character to say the least, he could piss ya off, he could make you worry like hell about him…but he was always good for handshake, a hug, a laugh and most of all, that big “Mike Dean” smile. He was a good man and a good friend! You will be missed brother! “Ride on” Scott Roberts American Legion Rider Hiram Police Dept. _____________________________________________________________________________ Michael A. Dean was my father, unfortunately I had not seen him in a couple of years. I was pleasantly surprised to see that my father had so many close friends who loved and cared about him so much, so much that they became his family. The first thing that I noticed when looking at his pictures of his last night I said that he looked so happy, I don't think I ever seen him happier. I wanted to say thank you to all of the American Legion Members and Riders, with a special thanks to Jim and Wanda, your good deeds will never be forgotten. I appreciate all of the wonderful stories I heard about my father. Having not seen my father for a while, there were a lot of great times that I missed, with all of your kind hearted stories you all helped ease my pain and my heart. Words can not express how grateful and proud I am to have such a loving father. I will not be able to attend the memorial ride, but my heart goes out to all of you. Cindy, you are a great woman, I love you. Michael (and family), I hope we keep in touch, I miss you all and I will always love you, BIG BRO! I Miss You, and I Love You Daddy!! I Hope I Make You Proud, We'll Be Together Some Day! Love Always, Katie Sue (Dean) Clark I would love to hear any stories that anyone may want to share. I can be reached at kaydkat@gmail.com _____________________________________________________________________________ Mike is the reason I am an American Legion member and Rider. Mike and I never had harsh words, although some times we didn’t agree, but we could always agree to disagree. I always felt liberty to kid with Mike and have friendly conversation no matter what either of us was feeling on a particular day. Often times I would pass by Double Vision if I didn’t see Mike’s bike parked in his favorite spot and of course on an angle to the lines. Mike would always greet me with a handshake and a brother hug or if he was involved he would just yell across the room. Many times Mike and I rode together to his favorite spots and he would introduce me to everyone by name; Mike had a knack for names and always knew someone anywhere you went. I owe more than anyone will ever know to Mike for his relentless drive to get me signed up for ALR. Mike led by example when it came to committing to a benefit, he gave his all! When I first met Cindy, I knew then that the old cliché was all too true…”Behind every good man is a good woman”! Mike, I miss you and will always think of you when giving credit for a “Job well done” as an ALR. God Bless you and Family! Jim- AKA F.R.O.G. and or SNAPSHOT ____________________________________________________________________________ Just want to thank everyone for all they have done. A special thanks to Ralph and Chad. Chad you are doing a great job with the website. Mike loved this place and everyone here. I love you all too. Thanks again for everything. CINDI DEAN |

The Measure
of a Man Not how he died? But how he lived? Not what did he gain? But what did he give? These are units to measure the worth of a man as a man, regardless of birth. Not what his situation, but had he a heart and how did he play his God given part? Was he ever ready with a word of good cheer, to bring back a smile, to brandish a tear? Now what was his church? Nor what was his creed? But has he befriended those really in need? Not what did the sketch in the newspaper say, but how many where sorry when he passed away? |
