01/24/2010: The Paulding County
Sheriff’s Office is mourning the loss of Deputy Chris Elsberry.
Deputy Elsberry passed away January 22, 2010 after a 4 year battle
with cancer. Deputy Elsberry was 34 years old.
The American
Legion Riders escorted Deputy Elsberry's procession from
Bellamy Funeral Home in Hiram to his final resting place in
Yorkville, GA. A small group of Legion Riders and supporters formed
a flag line as the procession neared. Only the sound the hard rain
falling was heard as they carried him to his final resting site.
Several members from local public safety agencies stood in honor of
their fallen comrade.
The American Legion Riders also participated in a benefit ride for
Deputy Elsberry in 2007.
