CURE Childhood Cancer:
Since our beginnings in 1975, CURE has raised millions of dollars to fund cutting-edge research at Emory University School of Medicine and the Aflac Cancer Center and Blood Disorders Services of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. We are proud to support local research efforts that are positively affecting research on a global scale.

Currently, the research CURE is funding is focused on the development and testing of new agents that target cancer cells and leave normal, healthy cells unharmed. We believe that this research will contribute to better treatments and ultimately cures for some of the most devastating types of childhood cancers while preserving a child’s quality of life. We also believe the research we are funding will lead to discoveries that will positively impact therapies for adult cancers.

ABOUT CASEY CALLAWAY:
Casey was an active 6 year old boy in 2007. On September 12, 2007 he was taken to his doctor because he had a bruise on his leg that wasn't going away and that week he had been complaining of being very tired after coming home from school. He was referred to Atlanta Children's Hospital that same day and admitted for further testing. Our worst nightmare was confirmed, Casey had Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) and needed to start chemotherapy right away. After more testing and a spinal tap and chemo, Casey was allowed to go home after 5 days in the hospital. The next week he had to go for another round of chemo. After being home about 9 days Casey became very sick, partly from the chemo treatments, but mostly from an intestinal bacteria known as Clostridium difficile or "C-Diff" He was admitted back into Atlanta Children's Hospital and by the next day was in ICU fighting for his life. From the day Casey was diagnosed on September 12th, only 17 days had passed when young Casey lost his battle. He passed away on September 29, 2007.
With your help, and with the help of CURE Childhood Cancer, maybe another child with this dreaded disease known as cancer, can win their battle. Cancer does not discriminate, it is an equal opportunity disease that can happen to anyone, anytime.
Thank you all in advance for supporting this very worthy cause. TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
